Software dupes
The app you rent. Duped.
Independent alternatives to the subscription apps people pay for every month. Compare them, build one yourself from our free starter prompt, or join the waitlist for the finished app at $99, once.
Plus your own AI usage. Granola prices from its pricing page, checked 2026-10-12.
Three ways in
Compare it, build it, or wait for it
Every page has the same three layers. Take as much as you need.
Compare
What the original does, what it costs over three years, and what the dupe keeps, adds and leaves out.
Build it with Claude
Copy the starter prompt into Claude Code and build the core of the app yourself, step by step.
Get the finished dupe
Join its waitlist. The most-wanted dupes get built first, and the waitlist hears first.
The dupes
Apps people pay for every month
Minutes
A private AI meeting notepad for the Mac: it listens to the call, you jot notes, it writes them up. No bot, no subscription.
Waitlist openMemo
You already carry a recorder. Memo turns your phone or laptop into one: one tap to record, then a transcript and a summary. No device, no subscription.
Waitlist openTradebook
Quotes, a job schedule and invoices for a one-person trade business. Runs in your browser, works offline, $99 once instead of every month.
Waitlist openFollowup
A pipeline and a daily follow-up list for one salesperson. Runs in your browser, keeps your leads on your device, $99 once.
Waitlist openReadiness
Daily recovery, strain and sleep scores from the Apple Watch you already wear. No band, no membership.
Waitlist openWhy once
A subscription is a price that never stops
Most of what these apps do can run on your own computer or phone. Paying for it every month, forever, is a choice the app made for you.

How a dupe gets made
We copy what an app does, never how its makers wrote it. The full method.
- 01Choose: apps people are searching alternatives for, whose job can run on your own device.
- 02Ask: each dupe gets a page and a waitlist. The most-wanted get built.
- 03Describe: we study the original's behavior and write a spec in our own words.
- 04Build: from the spec alone. No code, design, text or assets carried over.
Questions
Before you ask
What is a software dupe?
The same idea as a perfume or makeup dupe: something that does the job of the expensive original for a fraction of the price. Ours are independent apps that do what a popular subscription app does, sold once for $99 instead of every month.
When can I buy one?
Every dupe starts with a waitlist. We build the ones people sign up for most, and email that waitlist the day it's ready. Until then, every page has a free starter prompt to build the core yourself.
Are dupes legal?
Building software that does the same job as another product is how most software gets made. What isn't allowed is copying someone's code, design, assets or brand. We write our own spec and build from it; our apps have their own names, and we name the original only to say what we're an alternative to.
What will I get for $99?
The finished app, the full build spec we made it from, and updates for as long as the dupe exists. You pay once. Dupes that use AI run on your own API key, so the AI costs are yours and usually small.
Which app will you dupe next?
The ones people ask for and sign up for most. Email us the app you're tired of paying for every month.

Which app are you tired of paying for?
Tell us the app and what you use it for. The most-asked get duped first.
